A little background. I received my B.A. in English from Christopher Newport University in 2012. I am currently attending George Mason University for my M.A. in English with a concentration in Literature as well as pursuing a Certificate in Professional Writing & Rhetoric (PWR).The estimated graduation date at this point is Fall 2016. I am working as a research assistant for an English professor who is writing a novel concerning the RAF and USAF before and during World War II. This position has inspired me to keep track of the research I do for this project as well as the research I have been collecting and will continue to collect for my own capstone article. My article concerns Rebecca West, a modernist, feminist British writer who is probably best known for her travel memoir Black Lamb and Grey Falcon, about Yugoslavia in the years between World War I and World War II. These research projects, along with the research I will soon begin in the PWR program classes I am taking, will shape my career in and out of academia. I want a record of my experiences with them, and this blog seemed like the perfect place for it. My goal will be to make a post once a month. Not very ambitious, I know, but I have a history of setting lofty journaling goals that I just do not attain. So if this blog works out, I will try to post more regularly. I welcome comments on my posts, particular constructive criticism on my research methods, who I’m reading, the conclusions I am drawing from those readings, etc., etc. I look forward to documenting my travels through what are two awesome programs in one awesome English Department. It is important to note that the views I post in this blog do not reflect the views of George Mason University, any of its faculty, staff, or affiliates.
